This week we are exploring Jeannie Baker's Mirror text and the concepts of family, community and connections. We are also continuing to write our storyboards, engage in role plays and acting as well as planning a community event for the Local Government Area. LOTS of numeracy learning is also occuring. We are looking at whole number, mutliplication and division strategies as well as space and geometry (area and perimeter measurement and identifying 3D objects). Keep up the hard work 4J. Only 3 days to holidays and a welcome break. Here is the video we watched today to accompany our reading of Mirror.
Dear 4J,
Well today was interesting. I hope you enjoyed the rest of your day and recovered from the vomiting incident ;-) I came home and discovered I kept 2 students homework books. Never fear I'll be back on Friday so if you are one of those students' just do your work on paper that you can stick into your book. So here is an extra BONUS activity for those of you who have been enjoying writing raps, rhymes and rhythms. Read about the little incident technique. Then write and post your own little incident technique poems in the comments box so we can discuss them!!! I wrote one myself as an example - see second image. Learning Intention: Think about community, research the Campsie and Haldon Festival's and create your own event or festival.
Success Criteria: * Cooperate and collaborate with your group * Discuss and plan the type of event and activities * Consult and network with Canterbury Council, the principal, politicians, the community, teachers, parents and students. * Think of promotional ideas and ways to tell people about your event. http://www.haldonstreetfestival.com.au/ http://www.campsiefoodfestival.com.au/ http://www.canterbury.nsw.gov.au/Home Hi 4J, Welcome to busy Week 7. What? Already... So we have had a wonderful start to the week with the LPS swimming carnival, school photos are tomorrow (very excited!) and the last day to pay for book club is Thursday 12th March 2015. You need to start bringing in your excursion notes and money too. Homework this fortnight includes the optional reading games task. If you choose to do this task you can copy and paste the link to your game in the blog comments section. Ms J will look at the links and I might even put some on our Literacy Resources page! So try to find the best games possible :-) I have created a new Homework Resources page so you can access all the homework grids and other resources you may need to complete your work. You can visit the page by following this link: HOMEWORK RESOURCES or by looking in the drop down menu for Homework Resources. You can also comment in this blog section about anything you are enjoying class this week or record your homework research here. Bye for now! Ms J Happy Monday 4J, Welcome to Week 6 wow how time flies! This week we are continuing to think about community and collaboration during reading and across all learning areas. The bullying animation activity was very successful. I encourage you to continue posting your thoughts on that thread. Learning Intention: To think about communicating, collaborating and connecting with each other and in groups. Success Criteria:
